Buy-Back Centres are facilities created to recover recyclables from different sources including but not limited to drop-off centres, shopping malls, townships, inner-city residential arears, local schools, recreational facilities, taxi ranks, collectors & agents, garden refuse sites and landfill sites. The establishment of Buyisa-e-Bag Buy-Back Centres is to make the recycling industry accessible to previously disadvantaged individuals and recycling cooperatives whilst assisting with provision of a formalised sorting and collection solution that also creates formal and informal employment in communities. The success of Buy-Back Centre operations is highly dependent on Provincial & Local Municipality participation and partnerships as these entities play an important role in assisting with the identification of current waste managment challenges, compliance, as well as the provision of land required for the construction of Buy-Back Centres within their communities.
