Buyisa-e-Bag is a section 21 company established by the South African Government in 2006 with the aim to encourage reduction of littering and disposal of plastic carrier bags accross the country. This South African Recycling initiative's (Buyisa-e-Bag) mandate is also designed to empower youth, create jobs and alleviate poverty through recycling initiatives country wide.
Buyisa-e-Bag is funded by National Treasury with a portion of 0.4 cents from the Plastic Bag Levy as promulgated by the South African Department of Environmental Affairs.
